Our first family ski weekend was a great success and something we hope to make a new annual tradition. When I asked about the price hike they simply said their website hadn’t been updated yet. I was surprised to find their rates had been raise since I booked our trip: they went from $60/hour to $75/hour.

It’s not true Top Golf where you’re hitting balls into a large dome or outdoor space, but rather a simulator where you can play a variety of games like kicking soccer balls, throwing footballs as well as hitting golf balls.

The Top Golf experience was a fun way to spend an hour with the kids.

There are also TV screens for watching sports games (or something else) if desired. Your reservation comes with a server so you can order off the menu as you would in the restaurant. We recommend skipping the dinner at the Bistro (it’s was ‘fine’) and instead just ordering apps and drinks while hanging out in the simulator room. On Saturday night we made reservations at the Cedar River Bistro at our hotel followed by an hour session in their Top Golf Simulator located just off the restaurant. We got to the pub and they were so excited about getting back on the shuttle that they cared very little about eating their dinner. We took the shuttle from our hotel to Shorts and the kids found it super entertaining.

I will definitely recommend this resort to people, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time here.Something to note about Shanty Creek Resort is their free shuttle service between Villages as well as to downtown Bellaire. There were a few cosmetic things like some chipping and scuffs in the room, but they are so minor that it wasn't even noticeable.īalcony was sturdy, and made for some great sunset watching. The golf courses are very nice, and also staffed with kind and knowledgeable people. Staff was friendly and attentive and helpful. The breakfast bar and omelet bar in the morning were also very tasty. While the menu has few choices, the food was delicious. We did not visit the pool, but it looked clean. The resort is absolutely massive, and there's plenty of natural beauty. We had no issues with noise from other guests, and couldn't hear people in the hall or the adjoining rooms. The pillows were soft and fluffy, and the bed was comfortable. It was all very clean and well-maintained. King bed, little kitchen, roomy bathroom. Beautiful view of the lake, and trees for miles. But I was absolutely so impressed with the entire Shanty Creek experience. I will start by saying that I am super picky about hotels. All of this for less than $100 per night I paid.Īfter reading some of these reviews, I had no idea what to expect. Our last stay at another hotel had 2 queen beds, a hideabed sofa, table and 2 chairs, lake view with patio and chairs, 55inch screen tv hanging on the wall not in a cabinet, beautiful pictures and on the top floor near the elevator like I always request. The room did not even have a table and chairs to eat at. I found out that you have to request a room with a tub and shower if you want it. We were given a shower only (barely big enough for one person) and not a tub and shower.

The room was farther than any other room from the main area or lobby. It was very hard to find an outlet to plug into. The room’s screen patio door was very hard to open. There were not enough towels and wash cloths for my party of three. It did not have any hangars to hang my wet coats up on. For paying over $200 for a one night stay, I was very disappointed in what I found.
